Dr. Carole Pemberton

Executive Coach, Researcher & Author

Dr Pemberton is an executive coach, researcher and author who has worked with leaders in public, private and not for profit organisations for over 30 years.

Her clients include UK government departments, universities, international banks, global humanitarian organisations, telecommunications companies, publishing houses, the National Health Service and utilities companies.

The focus of her work in recent years has been supporting the resilience of senior leaders as they deal with the demands of their role in an increasingly complex, volatile and unpredictable world. She believes that the resilience of a leader has a direct impact on that of the teams they lead, and the organisation as a whole. She works with leaders when their resourcefulness has been stretched by many small stressors over time, and when they have been derailed by a significant event in their work or life. She sees all humans as innately resilient, but no human is resilient all of the time.

Her work in supporting the resilience of leaders in a major UK bank through a large-scale resilience building programme has received a national training award. She is a regular conference speaker and media contributor.

Dr Pemberton is a Visiting Professor in Business Coaching for the University of Ulster. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a Legacy Fellow of the Career Development Institute. She is accredited as a coach and as a coach supervisor with the ICF.

She holds a Doctorate for her research on recovering resilience, a Master’s degree in Education and advanced level qualifications in Career Counselling and Executive Coaching.

She is the expert adviser on resilience to the Sir Stanley Matthews Sports Foundation: a charity working in the UK and Africa to promote the development of citizenship through sport in areas of disadvantage. She is a trained bereavement counsellor. Throughout the COVID pandemic she has coached frontline workers within the NHS who are impacted by the demands of caring.

Dr Pemberton has authored several books including:  Coaching to Solutions: A manager’s toolkit for performance delivery, Strike a New Career Deal and most recently, Resilience: A Practical Guide for Coaches.

She is thrilled to be invited to be part of this important event and to be able to share her experience with you.
